Full time Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities.
In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project.
Harmony recently acquired 100% of the Eva Copper project, a near-term copper project in Queensland, Australia.
These assets are supported by the Harmony SE Asia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane. Reporting to the Leader – Accounting & Financial Services, the Financial Accountant will provide quality, timely, and accurate statutory financial accounts and analysis for Harmony's Papua New Guinean and Queensland Operations through the effective utilisation and development of accounting and other computerised applications and customer liaison.
Reporting will consist of quarterly financial reports as well as annual financial statements in Papua New Guinea and Australia.
The key responsibilities of this role include:Assist with preparation of annual consolidated accounts for the PNG and Australian group companies under AIFRS.Prepare information and manage the audit process for all annual reporting requirements in PNG and Australia.Prepare monthly journals for numerous small entities, review journals by staff and ensure that these are appropriately filed.Prepare and review monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts for numerous companies.Assist the Leader - Accounting & Financial Services on accounting disclosure and preparation of accounting papers which document compliance with standards and accounting positions taken.Review Accounts Payable Commitment reports, authorise and sign cheques/EFT payments, and manage the transfer of funds internationally in various currencies.Review payrolls and release EFT payments.Consolidate the financial results for the PNG and Australian group each month and respond to queries raised by users.Prepare information for the PNG and Australian group which is incorporated into the Harmony annual consolidated accounts prepared under International Financial Reporting Standards.Coordination of the information required for the 20F documentation for submission to the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) in the United States as a foreign registrant on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).Assist the Audit and Compliance Manager in ensuring SOX compliance in the Brisbane Finance Department especially as it relates to Financial Reporting.About You:To succeed in this role, you should be self-motivated and able to work efficiently and collaboratively with:
