About the role: Due to expanding remit of the team, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join our Group Reporting and Advisory team. The role can be based in our Sydney or Melbourne office. The team is responsible for technical accounting advisory, M&A transaction advisory, governance of companywide accounting policy, statutory reporting, group consolidation and legal entity accounting.
Key purpose of this role (and team) The role of Financial Accountant, Group Reporting and Advisory is principally responsible for providing support to the team with a focus on the statutory reporting requirements, group consolidation, supporting team projects and deliverable as required.
What you'll be doing – Drive the external half year and year end reporting requirements.
Owner of group consolidation package.
Liaise with external auditors during the reporting period process.
Support the preparation of Board and Audit Committee materials.
Assisting with providing ad hoc accounting advice to finance business partners.
Perform analysis and activities at a group level as required by key stakeholders.
Support any ad hoc projects and deliverables as required.
The role will require liaison with key individuals in the group and business unit finance functions and across various business units.
Identify improvement opportunities and process efficiencies, and move to implement changes as a result (as appropriate).
Provide back up and support to the wider Group Reporting and Advisory team.
What we need from you – Trained in a big 4 accounting firm with 2-3 years of audit or business advisory experience.
Good communication and stakeholder management skills – able to interact effectively with both finance and non-finance people.
Technically competent – high level of understanding of consolidation accounting.
Experience with large ERP systems - preferably SAP.
Qualified Accountant (CA/CPA).
Exposure to the Energy industry (preferred).
