We are actively seeking a highly experienced Senior Financial Accountant with a strong technical background and hands-on expertise. We are excited to present the enclosed position description, along with additional details below, offering a comprehensive overview of this pivotal role.

As a Senior Financial Accountant within the Financial Services team, you will be integral to ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and overall financial information. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of finance-related services, including monthly financial reporting, supporting the preparation of departmental general purpose financial statements, and overseeing compliance reporting. You will also maintain data accuracy, drive internal control compliance, and contribute to the development of financial policies and procedures. Additionally, you will play a key role in project management, contributing to the efficient operation and continuous improvement of financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:  Manage the balance sheet and ensure the accuracy of the department's general ledger through the preparation of detailed reconciliations. Assist in producing high-quality financial statements that adhere to statutory, departmental, and whole-of-government standards. Prepare comprehensive audit workpapers to support the audit process. Contribute to the end-of-month financial reporting cycle by completing various accounting tasks. Work closely with Finance Officers (AO3 and AO4) on matters related to purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other financial functions. Review and update financial delegations as needed to ensure compliance. Maintain and update the DPC chart of accounts, collaborating with Queensland Shared Services (QSS) on any changes to the Whole of Government Chart of Accounts. Oversee Tridata actual reporting and manage payments and claims associated with leave central schemes. Review and ensure the accuracy of monthly and annual GST and FBT returns prepared by QSS.
