The Finance team, led by the Chief Financial Officer, exists to support the strategic and financial aims of the Institute through the regular planning, controlling, and reporting of the financial operations including the Garvan Research Foundation (GRF) and Australian Bioresources (ABR). The short-term focus is on enhancing systems reporting and developing business intelligence metrics to provide key insights which will inform decision-making.
THE OPPORTUNITY The purpose of the Finance Partner is to engage with the Scientific Platforms, Australian Bioresources, and Scientific Labs teams, with planning and analysis capability. Through this relationship, you will assist in establishing accurate budgets and forecasts and find opportunities to enhance financial decision-making.
The Finance Partner will support the Financial Controller in developing Institute-wide models and support planning and analysis, as well as providing input into key finance policies and processes.
Salary: Up to $115,000 + 11.5% super + salary packaging (depending on experience)

WHAT YOU WILL DO Partner with cost centre managers and provide financial information and analysis to support decision-making
Maintain financial integrity in compliance with Garvan policies, and ensure strong financial controls
Oversee and measure cost centre performance against KPIs
Support the Financial Controller and CFO with preparing information for budgets and forecasts
Prepare financial models and provide analysis as required
Input into the design of cost-centre dashboards and reports and engage with working groups to enhance systems and processes
Provide support to non-financial internal customers on finance processes
Prepare submissions and financial reports for State Government, funding bodies (NHMRC, CINSW, NBCF CCNSW etc.) and other stakeholders
Provide assistance on all internal and external audits as required
ABOUT YOU At least 3 years' business partnering experience
Ability to model complex business cases
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – particularly Excel
CA / CPA qualified
Experience in the not-for-profit sector and/or medical research industry would be advantageous
Experience using Workday financials and Adaptive Insights (desirable)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to engage with internal stakeholders, we like team members who pick up the phone or go and have a chat!
