6-month Fixed Term Contract Onsite role, Southbank 3006 Our Company The Australian Ballet is one of the world's leading national ballet companies and a globally recognised Australian major performing arts organisation.
Each year the company presents upwards of 220 performances through its main stage seasons in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth along with public programs, special events, an extensive regional tour, a Children's Ballet and Education programs and regular overseas tours.
Orchestra Victoria, (OV), provides pit services for ballet and opera in Victoria, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Australian Ballet.
The Australian Ballet and Orchestra Victoria have an annual turnover of more than $70 million and employ over 265 staff.
About the Role Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Finance Operations Manager is responsible for delivering accurate and timely accounting operational support with a focus on resource management for The Australian Ballet.
This role is a key leadership role in the finance team, ensuring all management, statutory and government reporting requirements are met.
Responsibilities Preparation of timely and accurate financial and management reporting packages for assigned departments, including Management, CFO, and Board reports.
Detailed commentary and analysis to support key stakeholder decision-making.
Provide effective training/support to key stakeholders regarding the interpretation of financials to ensure they retain adequate controls.
Submission of individual and consolidated annual cash flow statements (excluding OV) for inclusion within the Annual Financial Report; as required and reviewed by Finance Manager.
Compliance Reporting and Lodgements – Ancillary Tax reporting and Grant Acquittals, Submissions Preparation of financial support documents and lodgement of the Australia Council Statistical Acquittals, Creative Victoria Statistical Acquittals and any other Acquittal programs; in conjunction with Grants Manager.
Preparation of analysis and other information required to resolve queries; liaison with various grant bodies staff as required.
Preparation and lodgement of various compliance reporting submissions, including Monthly BAS, Yearly FBT, Annual Franking Credit Returns, Foreign Resident Withholding Tax forms, PAYG on Foreign Royalties, Workcover VIC/NSW Returns, ROCO returns, ABS Surveys, etc.
Efficient recording, classification and analysis of The Australian Ballet resources, including expense management, procurement practices & contract management, financial delegations' management and oversight of payroll and employee financial entitlements.
Management of all tax related reporting, including liaison with external advisors.
Provision of financial input and support into strategic and business projects as required.
Management of other inter-departmental relationships for various end-to-end processes; including venue settlements, scholarships, and contract payments for all royalties, commissions, licenses, and performance fees etc.
Lead the selection, design and implementation of an expense workflow management system integrated with existing technology infrastructure provided by Technology One.
Assist Financial Controller and / or Payroll Administrator with payroll processing as a support / backup as required.
Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualification – Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
Professional accreditation – CA or CPA Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role in a commercial environment Required Skills Experience working with Technology One or similar ERP system.
Strong working knowledge of relevant accounting legislation and standards.
Experience in managing government grant processes.
