Katherine Town Council is the Municipal Council for the town of Katherine, located in the Northern Territory. Often called the 'Crossroads of the North' because of its location, Katherine is the fourth largest town in the Northern Territory and is located 312km south-east of Darwin on the banks of the Katherine River.Katherine Town Council delivers Municipal Services to the Katherine Community, including providing Library services, Airport Management, Waste & Recycling, Roads & Infrastructure, Cemetery, Animals and Regulatory Services, Community events and more!Katherine Town Council is a small organisation of approximately 65 employees that work harmoniously together to ensure Council delivers friendly and efficient services to the residents of Katherine.Katherine Town Council collaborates with many external organisations to ensure Katherine is continuously growing and improving.About the PositionThis position reports directly to the Finance Manager and is responsible for the provision of an effective range of services relating to Rates, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, and Payroll. A Finance Officer must adhere to all Australian Accounting Standards, Local Government Financial Accounting obligations, and the Katherine Town Council Enterprise Agreement requirements in addition to providing general office administration duties. The Finance Officer is primarily a member of the finance team who demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of financial policies, procedures and systems. The Officer must demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, have good initiative, be able to handle time-sensitive tasks, and provide administration support and customer service across the organisation.Position's EntitlementsFull Time / Temporary - 6 months, start asapSalary dependent on skills/experience and qualifications (between $70,456.85 - $76,000)Superannuation contribution of 11%, with the opportunity for the incumbent to co-contribute and increase Council's contribution to 13%Above Award entitlements under an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement
