Department of the House of Representatives – Canberra ACTThe Department of the House of Representatives is seeking applications from those interested in directly supporting the work of the House of Representatives and members of Parliament at Parliament House in Canberra.The Finance Office, within the Members' and Corporate Support program overseen by the Serjeant-at-Arms, supports the work of the House of Representatives and its committees through the provision of financial services and resource management guidance. By working collaboratively with business areas, the office manages internal and external budgetary requirements along with statutory and management financial reporting. The team delivers financial processing services, and provides tailored financial information and procurement advice to assist internal stakeholders deliver outcomes.The objectives of the office are to:ensure the continued sound financial management of the department through the delivery of comprehensive financial stewardshippromote and uphold a culture of integrity, ethical behaviour and compliance awarenesstrain and develop team members and the broader department in an innovative, supportive and service focused environment that values both teamwork and individual achievement.The Finance Officer works collaboratively within a small team and is responsible for organising their own workflow and showing initiative in following established procedures to achieve the objectives of the office. The Finance Officer will provide a high quality of customer service for internal business areas while processing accounts payable invoices, raising accounts receivable invoices and facilitating travel transactions in the credit card management system. The Finance Officer communicates clearly within their area of responsibility and values and nurtures a culture of innovation and service delivery.The key duties of the position include:The Finance Officer will:Process data for the management of accounts and financial transactions including invoices, journals and data imports and exports.Provide assistance to other areas of the department in relation to straightforward procurement and Finance Office matters.Extract information from financial management information systems (TechnologyOne and Expense8).Follow established instructions and procedures to prepare reconciliations and basic reports in response to requests for information or to support the preparation of management or compliance reports.Provide advice on and assist in the preparation of policies, processes, resources and systems in relation to procurement, accounts processing and management, travel, credit cards and general work of the section.Other financial and administrative tasks required by the section, as directed.EligibilityThe successful candidate will demonstrate:the ability to work with a strong attention to detail and willingness to learn financial management information systemsthe ability to communicate clearly and develop productive working relationshipsthe ability to work cooperatively within a small teamthe ability to prioritise, deliver outcomes and respond flexibly as priorities and issues emergethe highest standards of ethical behaviour and the ability to display a commitment to personal development.NotesThe occupant of this role will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
