Position Description: Finance Officer Job Title: Finance Officer

Company Overview  AG Projx is a recently established construction company dedicated to servicing the agricultural sector. We specialize in delivering tailored construction solutions for farms and agricultural operations. We are currently contracted to install hail-netting on a large-scale citrus farm in Emerald, helping to protect crops and support sustainable agricultural practices. 
Position Summary:  The Finance Officer plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial operations, regulatory compliance, and timely processing of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and OEM processes. The opportunity exists to also support the Head of Finance in providing accurate financial analysis and insights to inform strategic decision-making. The Finance Officer will have opportunities to develop their expertise and advance their skills within the finance team, with a pathway toward Finance Manager and senior financial leadership roles. 
 
This role is suitable for either someone looking to: - 
Someone with relevant experience looking to work part-time.  
A first mover from public practice accounting or similar; or 
Someone with experience in a similar finance-related role looking for a change. 
Note: as we service the agricultural sector, travel may be required from time to time (infrequent) dependent on the candidates' desires. 
Key Responsibilities:  Financial Compliance & Operations: 
Conduct timely and accurate reconciliations, including bank and account reconciliations. Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring prompt invoicing and payment processing. Process payroll and maintain accurate payroll records, ensuring compliance with payroll policies and regulations. Execute end-of-month processing, including journal entries, accruals, and prepayments. Maintain accurate financial records and documentation to support audit and compliance requirements. 
Financial Analysis & Reporting: 
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accurate data presentation for review.  
If desired, assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support business planning. Provide insights on financial performance, trends, and potential risks, highlighting areas for improvement. Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses to support decision-making for operational and strategic initiatives. 
Support for Head of Finance: 
If desired, assist with financial strategy development and implementation. Monitor cash flow and support treasury management efforts as directed. Participate in the review of financial policies and recommend updates to enhance financial controls and efficiency. Collaborate on special projects, financial modeling, and performance analysis as required. 
Process Improvement: 
If desired, identify opportunities for process improvement within finance operations, particularly in automation and efficiency of reconciliations and reporting. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements and financial system upgrades. 
Note: Training will be provided where required. Qualifications:  Education: Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field ideal. 
Certification: CPA or CA qualification (or in progress) ideal. 
Experience: 2+ years of experience in a role with exposure to business operations or finance. Strong experience in reconciliations, payroll processing, accounts payable, and receivable. 
Key Competencies:  - Problem-Solving: Ability to identify areas for improvement and proactively implement solutions. 
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, ideally with the ability to explain complex financial data in everyday language. 
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively within the finance team and across departments. 
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks). 
- Analytical Ability: Strong analytical skills with a detail-oriented mindset.

Work Environment:  This role offers a balance of in-office and remote work flexibility. Currently, work will be a combination of time spent at our Ashgrove office and working from home. The Ashgrove office provides a collaborative space to connect with team members, access resources, and engage in hands-on tasks and training. Please note that the office location is subject to change in the near future, which may offer additional flexibility or alternative arrangements.
