Finance Manager

Our client is a leading provider of fresh produce, meat, and small goods to both the retail and resource sectors across Australia, with an export division servicing Papua New Guinea. They are seeking a skilled Financial Manager in their Cairns office to oversee end-of-month reporting, year-end data processing, and provide ongoing support and guidance to the accounts team.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical and compliance knowledge, with a thorough understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and Taxation Legislation. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with the ability to manage priorities, ensure attention to detail, and meet critical deadlines.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee fortnightly payroll functions across four payroll companies Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of financial and administrative support Handle statutory reporting and general data maintenance Conduct analysis of debtors and creditors Maintain compliance with payroll regulations Provide timely, accurate information to the team and management Manage tax, statutory reporting, and compliance processes Support budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management Prepare BAS, balance sheet, and P&L reconciliations Handle payroll tax, month-end journals, provisions, and bank reconciliations Undertake general administrative tasks as directed by the CEO Skills and Experience Required: Proven experience in payroll management Previous experience as a Finance Manager Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or a related field Proficient in Excel, including advanced formulas Familiarity with MS Outlook and Word Excellent written and verbal communication skills High level of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to thrive in a busy, changing environment Strong time management and organizational abilities Knowledge of MYOB preferred, FRESH Software an advantage This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic business, working closely with senior management, including the CEO, to achieve financial objectives.
