About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Finance Lead to join Select Plant Australia in Sydney. You will be the custodian of the financial resilience and integrity of the Select Business Unit through providing financial leadership, management and compliance to ensure the Business Unit meets all its financial reporting, compliance and control requirements.

Key responsibilities

Partner with the Select Business Unit Leader in managing the Business Unit to achieve its financial objectives

Accountability for the Business Unit budget setting, forecasting, and reporting process, working closely with the Business Unit commercial team

Provide analytical support across the Business Unit to make informed decisions in a timely manner

Manage internal Laing O'Rourke stakeholder relationships with Australia Hub Finance, Treasury and IT with regards to financial reporting and financial systems.

Financial analysis and support in conjunction with Strategy teams to support development of new business streams and/or acquisitions

Take a hands-on role in resolving finance matters which arise within the Business Unit, ensuring accuracy and efficiency is achieved with any implemented changes.

Lead, mentor, and develop financial professionals in the Business Unit, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

About you

Degree qualified accountant and CA/CPA qualified

Experience in the equipment rental, rail, or construction sectors preferable.

3+ years' experience in a similar financial position.

Practical experience in leading a business unit's financial performance, continuous improvement, and year end audit management.

Well developed verbal and written communication skills

Confident dealing with stakeholders at every level

Strong technical accounting skills and AASB/IFRS knowledge including key areas of recognition of fixed assets, lease liabilities, construction and non-construction revenue recognition.
