The Finance Office plays an integral role in the success of the University ensuring responsible stewardship through financial performance and strategic procurement, with a view to financial sustainability and growth. The Finance Office implements an operating model that enables a greater level of engagement across the University supporting the identification and prioritisation of initiatives that deliver operational efficiencies and provide reporting solutions that inform decision-making.About the role
The position will provide expert advice, guidance and support with respect to a full scope of financial matters. Working as part of a collaborative team, the primary role of the Finance Business Partner Lead is to work within a team supporting the Faculty/Division in both strategic and financial operations matters to enable effective decision making. Supervising a team, the Finance Business Partnering Lead focuses on strategically guiding the financial direction of the assigned portfolio, to formulate comprehensive financial plans, covering budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis.Reporting into the Associate Director, Business Engagement, this position will operate with a significant degree of autonomy.Key Responsibilities
Take the lead in consistently monitoring financial performance for the designated portfolio throughout the month, proactively identifying opportunities for optimisation.Effectively communicate financial insights and recommendations to Senior Management and provide strategic management accounting advice and recommendations on appropriate actions.Collaborate with team leaders and departments to ensure financial alignment with overall organisational objectives.Improve the University's performance by providing senior leaders and stakeholders with contemporary financial management advice and solutions to support decision making.Contribute to and implement a range of Finance projects, plans, tools, processes and systems to respond to future financial management challenges.Take the lead on budgeting, forecasting and monthly financial performance meetings with senior leaders from respective business areas.Ownership of the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs for the respective portfolio, with the support of a Senior Finance Business Partner, providing financial analysis of monthly results and business performance across the portfolio.Partner with the Faculty/Division Executive to develop their portfolio's budget and forecast as part of the wider University budget and forecast process.Qualifications, skills & experience
Postgraduate qualifications, or equivalent and extensive relevant experience.Significant experience in a complex organisation providing financial reporting, budgeting, and modelling and partnering with the business to improve financial performance.Proven ability to find innovative solutions to improve financial performance of organisations.High level of knowledge in financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting to support decision making and effective financial management.High-level accountancy, numeracy & reconciliation skills, with demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with figures.How to apply
