The University of Western Australia (UWA) is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Finance Business Partner to provide high-level financial insight and guidance that will influence the University's research agenda and drive sustainable growth.
About the area
The Finance team plays a critical role in ensuring the responsible stewardship of the University's financial resources.
This is achieved by delivering strategic financial advice, establishing a robust financial management framework, providing advanced financial tools, overseeing procurement processes, and managing the University's Investment and Endowment portfolio.
Finance also ensures rigorous financial oversight and accountability for both finance and human resources operations.
About the opportunity
Shape UWA's long-term research direction by delivering strategic financial leadership that drives high-impact decision-making, ensuring alignment with the University's overarching research goals.
Work closely with senior executives to influence high-level financial strategy, guiding the integration of research and financial outcomes.
This is a big-picture role, focused on steering strategic initiatives rather than day-to-day operations.
Provide strategic financial leadership in the development and execution of UWA's Research Strategy, using financial modelling and data-driven insights to guide decision-making.
Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and evaluate research growth opportunities, influencing financial strategy and resource allocation.
Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver accurate, evidence-based financial reporting that supports long-term research sustainability.
About you
To excel in this role, you will:
Hold a degree in finance or a related field, with over 10 years of experience in strategic financial leadership and performance management.
Be a full member of a recognised accounting body (Australian or international equivalent).
Demonstrate proven leadership in financial strategy, planning, and advisory, particularly in supporting complex, research-intensive environments.
Have expertise in financial modelling and scenario planning to influence high-level decision-making.
Be a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills and a collaborative approach to stakeholder management.
Note : A current National Police Clearance Certificate will be required by the successful applicant.
