We are seeking to appoint a Finance Business Partner to join our Finance team in Melbourne.
In this newly created role, the successful candidate will provide decision support services to senior leaders, driving performance to enable superior commercial decisions while ensuring that financial practices align with the firm's strategic goals. Your exceptional communication skills will allow you to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the firm.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Business partnering: Lead with a customer mindset to drive outcomes that will enable our business leaders and their operations. Establish strong and trusted working relationships with business leaders to understand and support their needs; support them in developing a commercial mindset and inform their strategic decisions making processes. Provide extensive business, competitor and industry analysis to deliver insights that assist in developing and executing a range of strategies that contribute to the achievement of organisational goals. Lead and oversee the implementation of business process improvements which contribute to improved KPI outcomes, enhanced customer experience, cost reduction and resource efficiencies. Prepare and present financial updates to our business leaders. Reporting and analysis: Provide accurate and comprehensive monitoring, analysis and reporting of the organisation's performance within agreed timeframes to inform and facilitate decision making of senior management. Pro-actively enhance management reporting; including development work on Business Intelligence tools (and Excel). Work with business leaders to identify and establish leading metrics that will assist them to make informed and strategic business decisions. Provide timely regular management reporting and insights with high quality commentary, including the group monthly performance report. Provide scenario based financial models to support strategic business decisions. Assist with the preparation of the annual financial report and audit process. Strategy and planning process: Support and coordinate the annual strategic planning process; assist stakeholders with the development of annual plans, development of the annual budget and regular forecasts in an accurate and timely manner. Participate in the development of key budget assumptions and relevant guidelines. Develop and maintain detailed driver-based models for the business to effectively manage budgets and forecasts. Advise senior management on key performance trends and variances and implications arising. Contribute to team and culture: Actively contribute towards increasing the profile of the Finance team, building a culture of service excellence with a customer mindset. Work closely with the Finance team to ensure accurate and timely sharing of information, strong financial controls are maintained, and process improvements are identified. Contribute to a culture of collaboration and sharing of knowledge. Provide positive encouragement and constructive feedback to team members. Other: Adhoc review, analysis and reporting as required by the senior management team. Assist with Finance related projects. Other reasonable duties as directed by the Director of Finance or Finance Manager. Maintain cyber security at all times. Cultivate an awareness of security risks, stay informed of latest cyber threats, instil best cybersecurity practices and take practical steps to protect the firm and clients from cyberattacks. Skills/Knowledge CA or CPA qualified (preferred) Tertiary studies in accounting, finance, business, economics or related domain Significant experience of business intelligence tools (preferably PowerBI) Experience in Budgeting/Forecasting/Planning tools (COGNOS, TM1, Jedox, preferred) Experience in programming languages (SQL, JAVA, R, Python, preferred) Excellent MS Excel skills with overall strong computer literacy skills, including the full MS Office suite Management and supervisory skills (preferred) Our Firm and Culture Russell Kennedy is a commercial law firm with more than 320 people in Melbourne and Sydney.
