Primary objective: Provide high quality financial management and support through a business partnership-oriented approach to ensuring continuous improvement of financial functions and services, financial governance and statutory reporting obligations are met, and compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, accounting standards, frameworks, directions, policies, and work instructions.
Key duties and responsibilities: Be a trusted advisor on financial management matters, effectively engage with business areas and stakeholders, and contribute to financial planning, implementation and monitoring cycles through a strategic and proactive approach. Coordinate and undertake financial management tasks, including monthly financial processing, ensuring deadlines are met whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy. Prepare, review and analyse complex financial, procurement, and taxation reports, including statutory reporting and returns. Development and review work instructions, systems use, policies, and related documents with a governance and compliance focus. Lead subordinate staff and the wider Financial Services team to achieve results whilst promoting change. Contribute to continuous improvement of financial functions and services, with a pragmatic customer service focus. Selection criteria: Essential: Knowledge and practical application of relevant legislation, regulations, accounting standards, and work instructions to financial and taxation processing and reporting tasks. Highly developed ability to communicate clearly and build strong working relationships. Comprehensive analytical and financial management skills. Leadership and staff management skills with an adaptive approach to change. Demonstrated ability to think critically and make recommendations through research and analysis. Desirable: Bachelor's degree in accounting, or other relevant discipline, with professional membership of an accounting body (CPA/CA). A sound understanding of the budget and financial management cycles and processes.
