The Eva Copper Mine (ECM) is located in North West Queensland approximately 75km north-west of Cloncurry. The greenfield Eva Copper Mine Project is a significant and strategically important project for Harmony Gold Mining Company Pty Ltd.The Project will be the largest mining operation in North West Queensland with a minimum mine life of 15 years, and will involve mining multiple open cut pits providing copper bearing ore to a concentrator. The project is permitted, and the mine site will include development of these pits, a copper concentrator, associated processing and non-processing services and infrastructure including tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps, water management facilities, power generation and an accommodation village.Harmony is currently preparing to progress the Execution Phase of the Eva Copper Mine Project in support of achieving near term 1st production and are seeking highly motivated and experienced people to join our growing project delivery and operations teams. The Execution Phase will commence with front-end engineering and design, and in parallel preliminary site works will also be progressed in support of full project execution post final investment decision. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of defining, building and operating a major forward-facing metal mining operation that will offer employment opportunities across the project life cycle, from project definition and delivery into operations.We currently have a vacancy for a Field Technician to join our team in Cloncurry.Responsibilities include:Commitment to safe operating practices and demonstrated duty of care.Ensuring our activities are environmentally and socially compliant.Our aim is to find and mine copper so bring ideas to the table.Supervise site preparation and earthworks for drilling activities.Provide support to the exploration geologists and collect drill-core and RC cuttings as required.Maintain and operation of the core shed.Processing drill-core for logging and photography/cutting/sampling of drill core. Other analytical techniques including PXRF, magsus as required.Supporting field work including rock-chip sampling, geochemistry (soil) programs, and geophysical programs.Data recording, some computer literacy required.What you will bring to Harmony:Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role.Proactive safety record of behaviours.Open C class manual drivers' licence.Forklift licence would be advantageous.The ability to work as an effective member of the team.High quality and standard of work, and attention to detail.Ability to pass full medical (including Drug & Alcohol testing).Location:This role will be Residential in Cloncurry or DIDO from local communities or FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville to our sites in Cloncurry QLD, with local candidates highly regarded.
