Reporting to the Operating and Technical Lead – Naval Combat Systems, the Field Service Representative (FSR) is responsible for delivering waterfront services to support Saab combat system elements delivered to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). These activities include help desk, Urgent Defect (URDEF) investigations and other technical support. This position provides a direct interface to ship crew and/or waterfront operations. The role is also responsible for providing technical support to Saab products during build or upgrade activities such as First of Class (FOC) installations and testing.
Specific AccountabilitiesProvide technical support for Saab combat system platforms, including ANZAC, LHD, AOR, DDG & OPV ship classes and related Land Based Test Sites (LBTS).Within the FSR team, assist with help desk and URDEF enquiries and responses including remote support where necessary.Support the Operating and Technical Lead to work cohesively with related departments such as Hardware, Software and Systems Engineering to determine complex technical solutions for designated projects.Responsible to undertake FOC technical support activities such as installation and set to work procedures, commissioning activities including CAT 4/5, Harbour/Sea Acceptance Trials. These activities often require integrated responsibilities working with associated support teams such as Maintenance, Systems Engineering and Integration.Support the Maintenance team to deliver planned and corrective maintenance activities as required, particularly during concurrent support activities such as system groom and condition assessments.Comply with legislation and company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non- discrimination, safety and duty of care and the quality management system.Perform other duties as assigned.Skills and ExperienceExtensive technical related industry experience for RAN assets.Superior expertise in the planning and prioritization of maintenance activities and the execution of tasking; including Inspection Test Plans (ITP's), Job Safety Environmental Analysis Plans (JSEAP's), and Standard Activity (SA) tasking.Ability to undertake periodic travel interstate and/or overseas.Experience with validation or authorization of technical documentation including test procedures, test reports and closing reports.Knowledge of RAN combat system operational needs and performanceKnowledge of subsystems such as radars, navigational aids, weapons/engagement and sensor integration.Export Controls (including ITAR) knowledge and experience.EssentialCertificate IV in Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Trade DesirableDiploma of Front Line or Management Leadership, or similarPersonal QualitiesExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to plan, schedule, prioritise tasks and meet deadlinesAbility to relate to and liaise with personnel both internally and externally with RAN staff and sub-contractor representativesConfident and assertive mannerAbility to work with others in a team environment and prepared to share knowledge and experiences.Ability to adapt to new tasks, technologies and proceduresDemonstrates behaviours that reflect company valuesGeneral Company RequirementsAustralian Defence Security Clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1
