Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Site Production Manager, the Field Service Engineer - Balance of Plant Mechanical (BoPm) is responsible for planning the balance of plant mechanical work scope and providing technical support.
The BoPm scope includes Station Cranes, Water Systems, piping, HVAC, Draft Tube Gates, Water level & flow measuring, Air Systems, Oil Handling System, Fire Protection, HVAC, Workshop Equipment and fire protection systems.
The position will be located initially in Cooma and as soon as site operations begin, he/she will be required to be full time located at site.
Key responsibilities
Prepare technical and site-specific documentation specific to the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process and evaluate bids/offers.
Prepare mobilization and request purchase orders.
Prepare and update site documentation such as lifting plan, installation instructions, erection protocol, etc.
Support the development of the HSE & Quality plans with the responsible person.
Support and coordination between site and design engineering.
Participate in design review meetings and ensure field related design considerations.
Prepare and maintain subcontractor work packages.
Participate in short- and medium-term work planning (Four Week Look Ahead).
Review and support data quality (time booking, planned hours, progress) in our construction management software, Insite LMS.
Support the identification, reporting and documentation of scope deviations (non-conformances, claims and change orders), risks and opportunities.
Provide technical support to the site team and facilitate clarification with the engineering team.
Monitor achievement of quality, schedule, costs, and corrective actions.
Education
• University diploma in Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
Skills
Ability to drive project success with a focus on HSE, quality, schedule, and budget.
Previous demonstrated experience in supervision of BoPm installation in the field of large hydro power projects or in similar industries.
Construction and/or E&M experience is required.
Experience in the Australian market is desirable.
Past experience in manufacturing and installation of BoPm including associated activities as scaffolding and painting is desirable.
Proficient technical and operational knowledge of hydro power BoPm equipment.
Sound knowledge construction project management best practices.
Collaborative team player with a customer- and people-oriented approach, accountable, and solution-driven.
Proactive mindset to anticipate challenges and provide problem-solving solutions.
Fully computer literate with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, Solid Edge, or equivalent.
SAP knowledge is desirable.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English in an international team environment.
Site conditions
• A typical roster of 14 days in, 7 days out.
• Camp accommodation is provided.
Project Information
Snowy 2.0 is the next generation of the iconic Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme, and construction of this major pumped-hydro project is well underway.
Once complete, the Scheme will provide 2000 megawatts of dispatchable, on-demand renewable power and approximately 350,000 megawatt hours of large-scale energy storage to the Australian National Electricity Market.
