Field Service Engineer Weir Minerals Somersby NSW Onsite/Workshop Purpose of Role: This position includes a high level of communication and leadership between management, clients, and crews.
The Supervisor is responsible to ensure safety and quality standards are met and that assigned administrative activities are completed.
The role will involve a hands-on approach both in site-based and Service Centre fitting duties to all forms of rotating/processing equipment such as Steam Turbines and Gearboxes and all other duties as directed by the Field Service Manager.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise site teams on customer site work & provide service and supervision to customers' equipment such as Steam Turbines, Gearboxes, and Generators together with Ancillary Equipment Overhauls and Upgrades.
Completing repairs on critical equipment, including stripping, assessment, assembly, drawing amendments, and machine maintenance on project works.
Supervision of resources with zero incident target & supervision of trade resources to refurbish/restore components and equipment to design standards with completion and management of all documentation for the company quality system.
Manage projects with budgeted hours and costs.
Provide technical support and backup covering the operation and maintenance of steam turbines, gearboxes, and generators at our client's sites within Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Papua New Guinea, and Asia which will also include supervision and commissioning on site.
Compile comprehensive service reports on completion of each job.
From time to time support other Weir group equipment both in the workshop and on site.
Create a relationship with the customer through face-to-face contact, fostering trust, reliability, and strength through knowledge of Weir.
Work with a unique team with the ambition to help develop the business.
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering or Fitting.
Experience working in a supervisory or leadership role.
Mechanical Product Experience and knowledge of equipment such as Steam Turbines and Gearboxes.
Basic Computer Skills – ability to use Microsoft Suite.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical drawings, and procedure manuals.
Be available to go to site as per the client needs.
Excellent communication skills – written and verbal - ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Have full Australian work rights and a valid Passport/ Assisted work rights to correct applicant if from overseas.
Willing to travel and be away from home for periods of time.
