About the Role Newman Operations is part of Western Australian Iron Ore Operations and consists of two mining sites in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people. Comprising of Newman East and Newman West, Newman Operations accounts for about 78 million tonnes in total iron ore production.
The Field Officer is responsible for the effective operation of Autonomous Haulage System (AHS), Fleet Management System (FMS) and the Autonomous Haul Trucks (AHTs) whilst in autonomous mode, to ensure the AHTs can travel throughout the mine plan safely and productively. Field Officers work as part of a team, engaging key stakeholders and providing regular feedback to Production Supervisors, AHS Controllers and Production Operators.
The role will entail the following responsibilities:
Monitoring of the autonomous operations zone for accuracyManaging the dump plans to ensure the AHTs tip in an optimised waySurvey, plan and validate the AHS to ensure any infrastructure or hazards have exclusion zones around themMonitor haul road conditions and place speed restrictions as required.Respond to AHTs if they are stopped out of plan, and undertake recovery of AHTs when they are unable to continue on their planFurther optimise the mine plan and haul routes through infield verification.About You Your expertise in problem solving & diagnostics, coupled with your ability to communicate and build strong team relationships will make you an ideal candidate to help influence and shape our culture to ensure a safe, productive, sustainable and disciplined approach to work is maintained.
