Who are we? Community Work and Partnerships We are responsible for developing partnerships with government and non-government organisations so that offenders can undertake unpaid work as part of their community-based sentence. Community work serves as a valuable way for people who've offended to pay back the community while also reconnecting and reintegrating into it.
What does a Field Officer do? Your primary responsibility as a Field Officer will be to supervise a team of clients at community work sites. Responsibilities include performing site inspections, assessing hazards, providing workplace health and safety advice, and maintaining tools and equipment registers.
A day in the life of a Field Officer: Your shift starts at a Justice Service Centre where you collect equipment and transport offenders to community organisations. Tasks may involve graffiti removal, painting, litter collection, and landscaping. You will instruct offenders to safely perform each task and monitor their work.
We are looking for individuals with various backgrounds and experience. Some desirable skills include: Strong communication skills and the ability to ensure a safe environment for offender work teams.Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety practices.Ability to build rapport and manage conflict.Model appropriate behaviours to assist offenders in developing new skills.Carpentry or handyman skills.Gardening, landscaping, or painting skills.Field Officers will be required to drive a 12-seater bus with a trailer, so a full and current driver's licence is essential. Community Work operates seven days per week, and the successful candidate must be available during this time.
