Job Summary: As Field Engineer - Structural, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination.
Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
Major Responsibilities: Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.
Initiates requisitions for field purchases and performs material receipt inspections.
Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, ensuring tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
Other responsibilities as designated.
Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Oil & Gas or LNG Project construction experience assigned as a Field Engineer.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge and experience on Australian Codes & Standards for Structural Steel Installation.
Knowledge of Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) – Teamworks, Unifier, Cornerstone, SteelSlayer, DSCS.
Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
Excellent problem-solving ability.
Additional Information: This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include:
Extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site.
Climbing ladders and working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs).
Use of personal fall arrest equipment.
Walking and working on uneven surfaces.
Working in constricted and/or confined spaces.
Variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.).
Work in inclement weather.
Some lifting may be required.
Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e.
respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).
