Flinders University of South Australia – Darwin NTFixed term until 30 June 2025 | Part-Time at 0.5 FTELocation: Darwin / Larrakia CountryAbout the RoleThe Field Education Coordinator will support the National Mental Health Pathways to Practice program. The purpose of this program is to attract and retain allied health professionals to the mental health sector by providing supervised placement opportunities across a range of locations, including non-metropolitan regions.The program aims to improve the placement experience for students and graduates in mental health by exposing them to less intensive service settings, with the aim to build capacity and retention in the mental health sector. The Field Education Coordinator will work collaboratively with key stakeholders in Darwin, focusing on engagement with member organisations to establish and run a shared placement model for the University's Social Work students.Some of the key responsibilities of the Field Education Coordinator will include:Providing University Field Supervision in line with the University's Field Education Model to students on placements in a range of agencies and services.Building capacity in agencies and services to support future workforce needs via agency-based placement supervision, including upskilling of social work staff for supervision.Developing and maintaining strategic relationships and networks with a range of stakeholders including industry and professional associations and organisations.The part-time work pattern for this pivotal position will be Thursday and Friday every week with flexibility available on the remainder of the FTE 0.1.About YouThe successful candidate will be a passionate professional in the field of Social Work, have completed a tertiary qualification in Social Work and have the eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).They will require 5 years relevant post-qualifying practice experience, with a focus on supporting mental health and wellbeing. Some of the other key position capabilities include:High-level interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students and industry.Demonstrated experience of contemporary social work supervision and ability to work with stakeholders to shape a future sustainable model of supervision.Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated understanding of the mental health sector and the role of social work within this setting.Prescribed Conditions for EmploymentA valid National Police Certificate which is satisfactory to the University will also be required before the successful applicant can commence in this position.Northern Territory Government legislation (the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007) now requires all individuals in child related employment or whose duties involve, or are likely to involve, contact with a child, to hold a valid 'Working with Children Clearance' (Ochre Card).
