Umwelt's portfolio has more new and exciting projects in the biodiversity sector, which is expanding as WA moves towards renewable energy and tries to balance development with strategic conservation and offsetting outcomes. This expansion offers exciting prospects for enthusiastic ecologists at any career stage, from early to senior, who want to be part of a team with steady work and incredible project diversity. We are a growing company with a vision to make a difference, and we are looking for Field Ecologists at all levels who are ready to enhance their ecological consulting career working within our Perth ecology team. We seek candidates who have finished their studies and acquired some experience in conducting ecological field work and who are keen to travel and develop their technical skills in recognising vegetation and flora and surveying for specific species. This role is field based, targeting surveys in spring and summer 2024/2025 in a range of locations throughout WA. Permanent roles may be available following this period, pending business needs. About You:

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Field Ecologists (early career) who meet the following criteria: A degree or postgraduate qualification (or in progress) in environmental science, botany, zoology, or a related field A strong desire to work flexible hours and travel for ecological fieldwork including possible trips of extended duration (one week or greater) in rural or remote regions Experience in undertaking ecological surveys and a demonstrated passion for flora and/or fauna Ability to work in a professional team as well as autonomously Capability to effectively communicate with team members Experience in GIS and electronic data capture (preferred) Appreciation of the importance of WHS matters
