Our Core Values: Better together, Be the difference, People before profit, Passionate problem solvers The Role Working closely with our Principal Scientist, you will be responsible for in-field agronomic testing of sporting fields (football, cricket etc) in the SEQ region. You will work to a documented process and industry best practice methods.
As an Agronomist, you will contribute to a wide variety of projects, with responsibilities including:
Agronomy - Field Testing and Data Collection: Conduct in-field agronomic assessments of sporting fields (e.g., football, cricket). Use field instruments to measure and record key turf parameters, including surface hardness, compaction, moisture content, and more. Assist in turf composition analysis and identify turf health issues such as weeds, pests, and diseases.Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with the Principal Scientist to undertake auditing that aligns with industry best practices. Collect and analyse data, providing clear and accurate reports to external stakeholders and clients. Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to team members and clients.Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training to enhance your skills in turf management, agronomy, and field research. Develop expertise in turf grass management and related disciplines, with a focus on improving the quality and performance of sports fields.Other Tasks:Technical Report Writing: Preparation and editing of technical reports based on field assessment and monitoring data, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet client and regulatory requirements.Vegetation Mapping & Data Management: Conducting vegetation surveys and preparing vegetation maps, including managing and analysing spatial data.Fieldwork: Participating in local and remote field assessments, contributing to vegetation and flora surveys, and providing accurate data collection in the field.Data Analysis: Analysing collected data and performing statistical analysis, with the aim of generating insights that contribute to ecological assessments and scientific reporting.Research & Trials: Supporting research experiments and trials related to ecological management and vegetation monitoring.Collaboration & Project Support: Working alongside senior ecologists, project managers, and clients to deliver accurate and timely project outcomes.We anticipate a start date of early in the new year.
Your Skills & Experience You possess agronomy experience, with a background in turfgrass &/or horticulture. A demonstrated knowledge of plant nutrition and soil science is also a bonus. As a strong communicator, you can apply both verbal and written skills to communicate with clients and team members, as well as the ability to work independently to achieve agreed timelines. You also have an understanding of OH&S requirements for working safely in the field and a willingness to learn and adopt company policies, procedures and systems.
