FIL has offices in Sydney and Melbourne with the majority of our team based in Sydney.
The Australia business comprises of approximately 80 professionals across investment management, distribution, marketing, product, legal & compliance, operations & client services, finance, tax, technology, corporate services, and HR.
About Human Resources Fidelity's HR team in the Asia Pacific Region consists of professionals comprising of HR Business Partners, Talent, Compensation & Benefits, and an HR Support team working together to provide an HR service to the business colleagues across the Region.
About the role As the country HR business partner, you will have oversight for all aspects of human resources for our people in Australia.
You will collaborate with local leadership (Australia Senior Leadership Team, "ASLT") to develop HR strategies aligned with our business goals and foster a positive workplace culture.
You will guide managers and the ASLT to address employee concerns, handle disputes and partner with HR legal and other CoE teams as appropriate to update HR policies specific to Australia's legal and cultural context.
Key people processes such as year-end compensation review, talent review, promotions and organizational reviews are steered by business divisional HR teams with your support on the ground.
Each divisional HRBP team will include and update you on their processes and timeline so that you can address any immediate issues and questions locally.
Your views will be solicited in these people related processes as consistency across divisions at a country level is critical to sustaining a positive culture in the local office.
Insights, Strategy and Solutions - Country level Work with the ASLT to translate the business strategy into people focused initiatives, participating in developing and shaping programmes to address business specific needs now and for the future.
Work with managers to understand motivation and retention issues, developing and implementing solutions where issues are identified.
Provide HR insights and solutions in close communication with global HR and regional HR team, and ensure HR advice and services are consistent with business goals and directions.
Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices and legislative changes in Australia and proactively recommend updates or revisions to HR policies and practices as needed.
Represent FIL at industry Heads of HR roundtable to share best practices and gain insights to market intelligence.
Employee Relations Manage complex employee relations issues, engaging with managers promptly to address issues in a timely manner and assist in developing employee communication plans where appropriate.
Contribute to and lead the HR components of change management and restructuring initiatives, which may include consultation with groups and individuals.
Coach and build capability of managers to handle situations rather than managing the issues for them.
Support the resolution of employee relations matters e.g.
Involuntary termination, Redundancy, Performance Improvement Plan, Disciplinary Meeting etc.
In conjunction with HR Legal, review existing policies and procedures, and make recommendations on continuing, modifying or eliminating particular policies and procedures that are not supporting business goals (reviewing and updating employee handbook).
Organizational Development - Country level Work with regional HRBPs and managers to gain insights into opportunities for efficiency improvement on people and structure across Australia.
Partner with ASLT to review trends and insights from employee surveys and identify strengths and areas of development for FIL in Australia.
Compensation & Benefits Compensation and benefits will be owned by regional Rewards team.
The role of the country HR partner is to identify market trends and recommend potential adjustments to the Rewards team.
Further analysis, program design and project management will be managed by the regional team.
Year-end compensation review process will be divisionally run and primarily led by each divisional HRBP, with the country HR partner providing support to managers locally.
The main responsibility of the country HR partner during year-end compensation review process is to provide recommendations and insights to local salary review, and ensure consistency and fairness at a country level.
Training and Development In conjunction with Talent and divisional HRBP teams, work with ASLT to ensure regular talent discussions take place as part of management meetings, and development plans are in place targeting high potential employees and for talent pipeline across Australia.
Support and coach managers to have honest conversations with their people about their strengths, development needs and career aspirations.
Work with Talent development team and ASLT to identify, recommend and facilitate suitable learning options to meet with the local requirement and business needs at a country level.
Resourcing and Talent Planning Work with Talent Acquisition team and participate in recruitment and selection processes to ensure experienced and skilled talents are brought into the teams.
Support business managers in the induction and on-boarding of new staff, focusing on assisting new members in engaging with the Fidelity culture.
In conjunction with Early Careers team, support Early Careers Program's assessment centres and ongoing management of the early career programs when/where required.
