Festival Coordinator - Whitsunday Voices Literature FestivalThe Whitsunday Voices Youth Literature Festival is the largest youth literature festival in regional Queensland, attracting over 7,000 students each year from schools as far North as Townsville, South to Rockhampton and West to Mistake Creek.In its 20th year, over 87 schools enjoyed the 2024 Festival's two-day programme, featuring 14 acclaimed presenters, authors, poets, illustrators, and performers in 80+ fun-filled sessions and workshops for students from Preparatory to Year 12.Whitsunday Voices is a non-profit organisation that relies on strategic partnerships with local businesses, volunteers and ticket sales to continue to deliver a fun, educational, cultural and community-building experience for students across the Mackay region and regional Queensland.About the Role:The Festival Coordinator is responsible for the organisation and delivery of the annual Whitsunday Voices Youth Literature Festival under the direction of the Festival Manager. This includes, but is not limited to, event coordination, stakeholder liaison, publicity and marketing, operations and logistics, ticketing, and volunteer management.This is a part-time term time role 2 to 3 days per week depending on operational demands. Leading up to and during the Festival, the ability to carry out additional hours is required. Work hours are flexible and can be negotiated with the Festival Manager to accommodate personal lifestyle.Skills & Experience:Experience in festival and event coordination, or exceptional project management skills are desirable.A demonstrated high level of time-management and problem-solving skills.The ability to understand the needs of a school organisation and work with relevant school personnel to ensure project and event deadlines are achieved and in line with necessary compliance and safety requirements.Ability to work collaboratively and positively with a diverse range of people, businesses, and volunteers.A team player with strong interpersonal skills.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with a creative flair to engage and impress audiences and stakeholders alike.Demonstration of initiative, flexibility, and discretion, and the capacity to maintain confidentiality.Social media, sponsorships, marketing strategy, and website management experience is desirable.Qualifications:Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience.Blue or Exemption Card (or the ability to gain one).Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or the ability to gain one).Expressions of interest should be addressed to:The Principal, Mr Andrew WheatonRole to commence: negotiable for the right candidate.The School reserves the right to appoint prior to applications closing - early applications are welcome.Employee Benefits:Competitive salary structure.Professional, supportive, and welcoming staff culture.Welcoming Staff Social Club.Staff Concession on fees for children attending Whitsunday Anglican School.Access to relevant and interesting professional learning opportunities.First Aid training.Access to Employee Assistance Programme.Whitsunday Anglican School takes child protection seriously.
