Position Overview
APS5 / APS6 (Broadband), Executive Level 1
$81,145 - $136,570 plus 15.4% superannuation

We are looking for highly skilled, forward thinking and energetic criminal lawyers, with an aptitude for criminal law and an understanding of the important role an independent prosecutor plays in our system of criminal justice.
About the role
As a
Federal Prosecutor , you will have the opportunity to use a range of innovative legal and practice management systems, including desktop research products and litigation support database applications to review, analyse and tag evidence and manage cases. You will develop and utilise your communication and interpersonal skills to liaise and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders on case or matter-related issues with partner agencies and other stakeholders.
As a
Senior Federal Prosecutor , you will utilise cutting edge technology to assess briefs of evidence. You will apply relevant legislation, policy and procedures to frame criminal charges and determine how allegations of criminal wrongdoing are to be alleged before the court. You will exercise judgement to make legal decisions and recommendations, sometimes working to deadlines within tight timeframes. You will have carriage of significant prosecutions on behalf of the Director and will provide legal advice to the Director and partner agencies to drive prosecution outcomes.
About you
Ideally, you have a strong academic record, enjoy collaborating as a member of a team and embrace new ways of working in a digitally enabled workplace. You may also have had exposure to prosecutions or criminal law, have worked in a commercial litigation practice, or have been a judge's associate and are seeking a role in which you can apply this experience to progress your career.

In addition to the base salary and 15.4% superannuation, prosecutor roles with the CDPP attract a per annum allowance in line with the Public Service (Subsection 24(1) - Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions Non-SES Employees) Determination 2024/04:
Federal Prosecutor (APS5/APS6): $15,000 per annum
Senior Federal Prosecutor (EL1): $25,000 per annum
This recruitment round is advertised as Affirmative Measures - Indigenous is designed to address the under-representation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander staff in the APS.
