What we're looking for.
As the Features Editor, you will be an integral part of Mamamia's content team, bringing our signature storytelling to life across all digital platforms.
Collaborating closely with our editorial team, you'll write, brief and edit compelling narratives for the Mamamia website and be responsible for our subscription content, while managing our submissions program and commissioning quality features.
You will also be in charge of the written content for our flagship podcasts including No Filter, MID, True Crime Conversations, But Are You Happy?, and The Quicky.
Working within our rotating roster, you'll help create distinctive, high-impact content that resonates with our audience.
Here's some of the stuff you can expect to be doing if you join us: Lead our news and features content team, running pitch meetings and bringing fresh, bold ideas to life Be our storytelling superstar - commissioning and editing compelling long-form pieces that make our readers think, feel and connect Grow our subscriber base by managing compelling subscription content Champion our investigations calendar and special series, working with marquee talent and top writers and industry experts to deliver content that cuts through Work collaboratively with our podcast team to produce written content for No Filter, MID, True Crime Conversations, But Are You Happy?
and The Quicky Nurture our submissions inbox into a goldmine of authentic voices and unique perspectives, while securing must-read book extracts Lead and mentor our talented news and features team, helping them craft stories that pop while maintaining Mamamia's distinctive voice and high editorial standards Keep your finger on the pulse of what our audience loves, using insights to develop innovative content strategies that keep them coming back for more Now, a bit about you.
Tertiary qualifications in Journalism, Media & Communications (or similar) Minimum 7 years experience in editorial roles, with specific experience in features journalism Ability to work flexibly across our rotating roster system Proven track record in managing long-form content and investigative pieces Strong understanding of media law and journalistic ethics Experience in leading editorial teams and managing writers Life at Mamamia.
