Our client requires up to 150 reliable and physically fit farm workers for fruit picking in the Busselton/Manjimup/Pemberton areas.
Must be available to start work May 2025 and be committed to a minimum of 5 days per week, 8-10 hours per session for the duration of the season (approximately 9 months).
Varying early starts may apply (between 05:00-07:00) depending on crops/products readiness and management requirements.
You will need to be available for possible extra hours of work to ensure all crops are harvested as required by management.
Flexibility in your availability is crucial in horticulture, as crops growth/harvest is weather driven and may be intermittent.
All work is outdoors, which can be cold & wet or hot & dirty.
Must be able to lift to 15-20kg's on a regular and continuing basis.
Some bending/kneeling/stooping required, with long periods of standing.
This work requires pro-active organizational skills to prepare for the day ahead, spatial awareness, good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity, as well as the capacity to work for long periods alone and work from heights.
Ability to adhere to company QA and WHS requirements is essential.
Ability to follow instructions, attention to detail and high concentration levels are all required.
Duties Large amounts of bees will be brought in for pollination purposes during harvest time, so this work is not suitable for people with bee allergies.
Duties will include: Picking of fruit from the ground and/or from EWP's (Elevated Work Platforms) up to 8 meters in accordance with WHS legislation; Operation of farm vehicles & plant machinery – Including tractors, All Terrain Vehicles, EWP's, trailers, passenger vehicles and chainsaws; Assist orchard staff with general orchard duties, tree maintenance tasks and shed duties as required.
A combination of Modern Horticultural Award 2020 casual hourly rates and Piece rates is on offer.
Previous (and current) physical outdoor activities or lifestyle habits will be highly regarded.
Work is offered through an agency on a casual basis.
