The Men's Family Violence Worker is primarily responsible for providing preventative and intervention case management services to Indigenous men with the aim of addressing family violence in Indigenous communities. Case Management services will be provided to men who are removed from the home due to violence and are subsequently homeless and men who use violence against their families.

Key Responsibilities Case Management Provide timely and responsive case management and counselling to men who use violence, in a culturally appropriate and holistic manner. Work collaboratively with clients to develop intensive case plans with clearly defined activities and goals to be achieved within set timeframes. Work collaboratively with clients to develop exit plans to connect clients with community and less intensive professional support services post their engagement outside the Family Violence program. Complete intensive assessments including risk assessment, case management for requirements and supports they acquire through their case management under family violence program. Direct Service Delivery Develop and support our Indigenous men's group, which will provide support to the program and ongoing support to men engaged in the program. Develop documented referrals with key providers such as police, men's referrals services & children's services, men's behaviour change programs, emergency, homelessness, and other services as identified. Initiate referral and assist clients to complete necessary paperwork to engage in other appropriate professional services both with Njernda Aboriginal Corporation and external to Njernda Aboriginal Corporation. Advocate for men accessing the program. Utilise brokerage funds attached to the program to address service system gaps and needs identified in individual case plans. Regularly review program funding agreement and service standards to ensure all service delivery remains within funding constraints. Reporting Undertake relevant data collection, monitor KPI's and submit a monthly statistical report demonstrating progress towards KPI's to your line of supervisor. Participate in evaluation of the program with funding bodies and accreditation bodies. Actively participate in formal supervision with the Program Team leader. Report through an escalation process to the Program team leader any concerning behaviours that may place a client or their family at unacceptable risk. Contribute to policies and procedures with a focus on continuous improvement. Reporting and Compliance Initiate quality activities within your department to demonstrate a genuine commitment to continuous improvement across Njernda Aboriginal Corporation. Actively participate in quality activity reports within your division ensuring that a quality culture of Do, Check and Act is evident in your work conduct. Stakeholder Management Participate in Family Violence Networks and other partnership arrangements. Participation at and liaison with Courts when needed. Work within a case management framework. Corporate Responsibility Support values that respect historical and contemporary Aboriginal cultures so that Aboriginal people are recognised as having a special connection with the State. Promote compliance with relevant legislation and NAC policies. Assist with and support any internal or external audit processes. While at work, comply with OH&S requirements as noted in the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004. Key Selection Criteria Applicants must possess: Case Management Demonstrate client-focused approach in service provision with genuine empathy and interest in their needs. Demonstrate knowledge of current policies, legislation, program, and practices in relation to the program. Demonstrated experience in assessment skills including the capacity to apply a range of interventions strategies. Communication and Interpersonal Skills Communicate, consult, liaise, and negotiate with a broad range of people both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal people at all levels to achieve broad project objectives and goals. Understands underlying needs and issues of stakeholders and negotiates effectively to develop and implement solutions. Problem Solving Solves problems based on operational knowledge and experience, scanning for useful information, looking for underlying causes and suggesting alternative actions for clients and staff. Organisation and Planning Uses knowledge and experience to develop and implement systems to plan and monitor own, staffs and departments performance. Respect Cultural Diversity Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services. Demonstrate knowledge of Aboriginal culture and the special requirements of Aboriginal people. Qualifications & Experience Degree in Social work or Diploma of Welfare/Community Services (if qualifications are diploma level, then must be willing to undertake family violence sector qualifications required for Victoria). Experience in providing case management to individuals and/or families accessing services within the community or health or education service sector. Other Relevant Information The successful applicant will be required to undergo satisfactory pre-employment checks, including providing at least two professional referees, completion of a medical declaration, Police Records Check, Working with Children Check, Victorian Driver's License, and proof of identity and qualifications.
