Make a real difference to the local communityOngoing - Full timeAccess to Salary PackagingThe Role The purpose of the Family Violence Therapeutic Interventions is to provide Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander adults, children, and young people who have experienced family violence, therapeutic supports with the aim to increase safety, emotional well-being, sense of empowerment, and overall healing.
The Intake Worker role specifically supports the intake and initial assessment of individuals being referred into the program.
About You Tertiary graduate level qualification in a relevant discipline including social work, psychology, counselling, and/or social sciences, Diploma in Community Services; or be willing to undertake training or in the act of training towards such qualifications.Knowledge of and affinity with the Aboriginal community.Demonstrated understanding of social, physical, economical, and cultural challenges affecting contemporary Aboriginal communities and their ability to access adequate and quality services.Extensive experience in community development, community-led approaches, community engagement, and Healing for Family and Community Strengthening.Experience working in a service delivery setting within Aboriginal Community Controlled (preferred) setting and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander or culturally and/or linguistically diverse communities.Ability to be flexible in approaches to Family Violence Prevention and Healing for Family and Community Strengthening.Strong reflective practice skills and commitment to ongoing learning and growth opportunities.Excellent facilitation and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop positive community, stakeholder relationships and communicate with diverse individuals at all levels.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write and present professional documents to professional and community audiences.Knowledge of safe and appropriate culturally centred practices for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander focused services, including employment of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.Demonstrated understanding of social, physical, economical, and cultural strengths and challenges affecting Aboriginal communities and their ability to access adequate and quality services.Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture.Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.About Us Please visit our website for further information: www.wathaurong.org.au
