Family Support Specialist - Intensive Bail Initiative
Company:

Save the Children Australia

Details of the offer

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people and families across the Mount Isa region? In this varied and challenging role in our Intensive Bail Initiative Team, you'll be part of a wrap-around service that supports the families of young people who have come into contact with the youth justice system. You'll be contributing to our ultimate goal of decreasing the number of children and young people being remanded in custody, and reducing youth reoffending.
54 reasons is Australia's leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.
A place where your purpose matters. Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we're here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.
With the child's voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve - in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.
It takes all types of personalities and talents to drive our organisation– yours included. We value a healthy work-life balance and ensure our people feel connected to each other and our impact. Learn from inspiring people and grow from a connection to our strong local and global networks. From our programs to our support services - this is the place to realise your purpose.
A place to make a difference:
In this full-time, maximum term role (through to end of June 2025, with potential for extension), you'll support the families of high-risk young people on bail through intensive case work, follow-up and referrals to other specialist services. Based in Mount Isa, you'll be part of our Intensive Bail Initiative team and report to the Team Leader.
You will make a difference by:
Providing holistic, trauma-informed case management and delivering wrap-around support to the families of adolescents who are on bail
Identifying strengths and establishing goals for the young people and their families, and reviewing progress towards these goals
Identifying where additional assistance and external services are required, and providing appropriate information, support and referrals
Promoting skills which increase health, safety and development
A place to feel valued:
Your deep expertise in working alongside families to achieve agreed outcomes, and your highly developed cultural awareness and sensitivity, will enable you to build community networks and lasting relationships. You're resilient, not afraid of a challenge, and comfortable working in remote and rural settings. We recognise your contribution and provide you the support to ensure you can bring your best, knowing here you have the space and opportunity to grow.
Bringing your best every day, means:
Demonstrated experience in case management and knowledge of relevant legislation
Demonstrated experience in working with the families of young people who have been in contact with the justice system
Demonstrated experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and families
Strong report writing, analytical and evaluation skills, including data collation and analysis
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or significant experience working in a similar service
A place to belong:
