Job DescriptionFamily Connections is a new program being trialed by Micah Projects in partnership with The University of Queensland. We are privileged to be able to trial this program across two sites, Brisbane and Caboolture. Family Connections Family Support and Advocacy Practitioners will engage families as collaborative partners in an outcome focused intervention, utilising evidence-based assessment tools to identify critical needs and supports required to keep children safe.

Fixed term til June 2026 - full time - Monday to FridayWork within a team of 6, a Team Leader and 5 Family Support and Advocacy Practitioners operating in two different pilot sites (Brisbane and Caboolture) 5 days per week offering an evidence-based outcomes focused program aimed at keeping children safe. This role has a significant outreach component offering support to families engaged with Micah Projects.Intensive training in the Family Connections assessment tools and processes will be provided.Help shape the future of children As one of our experienced Family Support and Advocacy Practitioners, you'll play a key role in guiding and inspiring families to engage in evidence-based interventions that are outcome focused and assist families to develop support networks and connections.

There are 5 x fixed term full time (pilot ends June 2026) employment opportunities with conditions and salary at Level 4/5 of the SCHADS Award, depending on qualifications and experience. Desired Skills and ExperienceKey Responsibilities: Engage with families using the Family Connections USA approach to keep children safe and well.Build family capacities and provide planned support using evidence-based tools.Maintain high-quality case notes and support plans.Collaborate with stakeholders such as Child Safety, Department of Housing, and health services.Assist women with safety planning and coordinate with Domestic Violence services.Promote a culture of respect, safety, and trauma-informed approaches within the team.Participate in professional development and contribute to a supportive team environment.Relevant Human Services/Community Services diploma or tertiary qualification and extensive experience, or a combination of experience, expertise, and competence.Minimum of two years of experience working with young children and parents, with an understanding of issues faced by vulnerable families.Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues and ability to assess risk using a strengths-based approach.Experience in delivering parenting support and knowledge of early childhood development.Commitment to social justice and adherence to organisational policies and quality frameworks.Effective communication, problem-solving, and advocacy skills.Ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required.Experience in working with families in crisis and using evidence-based intervention strategies.Proficiency in the Family Connections framework and willingness to participate in clinical trials and program evaluations.For more information about the role and to learn more about the key selection criteria, see Position Description.
