About headspace
headspace are a busy and innovative youth mental health service providing a variety of mental health, medical, sexual and other health related services as well as vocational, functional groups and social services to young people aged 12 to 25 years and their families.
About the Opportunity
The Family Lived Experience Worker (FLEW) will play a crucial role in providing both individual and group support to families, carers, and friends of young people accessing our services. Drawing from personal experience as a carer of a young person with mental health challenges, the FLEW will utilize a recovery-focused and strengths-based approach to empower families in their journey towards supporting their loved ones.
Your Key Responsibilities as the FLEW:

Provide individual and group support to families, carers, and friends of young people in the headspace EP program.
Collaborate closely with Clinicians and other team members to ensure comprehensive and effective support for families.
Facilitate the Family Connections Group alongside the Family Mental Health Clinician, fostering peer support, connection, and shared learning among participants.
Promote meaningful engagement of families in the young person's mental health journey.
Challenge stigma associated with mental health conditions and support families in reducing feelings of isolation.
Spark hope and empower families by giving them a voice in the treatment and recovery process.

Note: This position is permanent part time position (3 days per week)
To be successful in this role,will hold a certificate IV in Mental health Peer Work or a similar qualification or be willing to work towards obtaining either and have a lived experience as a carer of a young person who has faced mental health challenges.
