Your Opportunity:
The Family Liaison Officer (Identified) works to support separated families through the process of family dispute resolution (FDR).
They are involved in delivering community education sessions, supporting parents to enact parenting agreements and assisting individuals with complex needs to address issues that might otherwise result in barriers to participation.
The role relies upon sound understanding of family dynamics, childhood development and the services and supports available within the community for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families.
Applicants with a background in indigenous support, community work or social work would be well-placed for this position.

Qualifications & Experience:
The Position Requires:
Possession of or progress towards a relevant social services Diploma or Degree qualification.
Minimum two years relevant experience in the social and community services sector or similar.
Well established networks within North Queensland's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and ability to provide necessary supports and referrals to First Nations families accessing the Family Relationship Centre.
Ability to understand and describe family functioning in a broad range of cultural and social contexts.
An understanding of the impact of domestic and family violence and conflict within families and upon children.
Sound working knowledge of issues impacting on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the North Queensland region.
Excellent ability to effectively work autonomously and as part of a team whilst contributing to program and organisational goals.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including effectively working with Indigenous persons, a culturally diverse clientele, and a broad-based network of service providers.
Current open driver licence.
Current, and ability to retain, both a Working with Children Blue Card check and Disability Worker Screening.
Desirable:
Experience undertaking risk assessments relating to family functioning.
Experience undertaking safety planning in relation to personal and family safety.
Experience or ability to acquire skills in delivering and facilitating community education or group work.
