The Committee will provide advice to the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations and Commonwealth work health and safety regulators about the needs of people affected by workplace incidents involving death, serious injury or illness.
We are seeking applicants for one Co-Chair position, who will work collaboratively with a Co-Chair (lived experience) to provide leadership for the Committee.
Key DutiesFacilitate informed, inclusive, constructive, and respectful discussion between members.Set meeting agendas, settle papers and develop the Committee's workplan.Give effect to the Committee's governance and legal obligations, where appropriate, including by being the primary liaison with the secretariat on matters of this nature.Use your expertise to identify system-level issues that are likely to impact affected persons and propose appropriate reforms to address the identified issues.Represent the advisory committee in discussions with the Commonwealth, the regulators, or other parties.Contribute to establishing an open, supportive, inclusive, and safe working environment.Manage the risks of re-traumatisation and/or vicarious trauma of lived-experience members that arise from the work of the advisory committee.EligibilityEssential RequirementsDemonstrated experience in trauma and trauma-informed practice, including experience in grief and loss counselling.Demonstrated experience in government, leadership, or other Committee or advocacy settings.Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication, consultation, negotiation, decision-making, and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels.Desirable Skills and QualitiesTertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, counselling, trauma, or a related field and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership will be highly regarded.Experience in, or commitment to, working with individuals and families from indigenous and/or diverse cultural backgrounds.Applicants who meet these criteria and also have lived experience as an affected person of a serious workplace incident will be highly regarded.
