Family Advocacy Lead - Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making

Details of the offer

Family Advocacy Lead - Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making
Streeties' is an Aboriginal community-controlled organization that has been supporting Aboriginal children, youth, and families in Geraldton for over three decades. Our current programs focus on encouraging young people and families to recognize and build on their existing strengths and connections within the community.
AFLDM supports Aboriginal families involved with the Department of Communities. The program is built around a meeting where the family can participate and have a voice in the decisions made about their children. AFLDM workers are independent of the Department of Communities, which is important to the integrity of the process. The AFLDM leadership consists of a Coordinator and a Family Advocacy Lead.
This is a full-time role working 38 hours per week.

Explain and escalate concerns raised by Convenors.

Degree in social work, counselling, social science or related field OR equivalent experience.
Desirable: Any training and/or experience relating to FDV, trauma, family therapy or applying an anti-oppressive lens to organizations and systems.

Humility and a desire to continually learn and grow.
Ability to reflect on how your background, identity and experiences impact your view of the community and how you interact with different people.
Interest in and understanding of the impacts of colonisation and racism on Aboriginal people and/or other historically oppressed groups.
