We are seeking highly motivated and practical investigators to join the Office of the Fair Work Ombudsman's (OFWO) Criminal Investigations Team within the Criminal Investigations Branch.
This is a new team, and you will have the opportunity to shape the culture and work practices of the area.
Positions will be available at the Fair Work Inspector APS Level 5 (APS5) and Senior Fair Work Inspector APS Level 6 (APS6).
You may apply for an APS level 5 or 6 level role, or both.
Full-time and part-time hours and hybrid work arrangements are available.
Offers will be based on candidate performance and operational requirements.
A merit list may also be formed as a result of this exercise and may be used to fill similar vacancies in the next 18 months.
About the TeamThe Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) has been established in response to the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes) Act 2023, which introduces a criminal offence for employers intentionally failing to pay employee entitlements.
The OFWO will be responsible for investigating contraventions of the offence and referring matters to the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP) or the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
The CIB will be responsible for establishing the systems, processes, capabilities and policies required to effectively operate as a dual civil and criminal regulator.
The Criminal Investigations Team within the CIB will be responsible for conducting intelligence-led investigations of matters to a criminal standard through to delivery of briefs of evidence.
This is a high-profile area with interest from the Australian public and stakeholder groups within and external to the OFWO.
You'll need to be comfortable working in an environment with a high level of scrutiny.
