Under direction from the Venue Operations Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring all users of our venues find the premises clean, safe, secure, and well maintained for commercial hire.
Nicolson Square Venues are owned by the City of Edinburgh Methodist Church (CEMC). The venues are unique, historical properties in the South-East of the City Centre. During a refurb, the buildings were connected in 2012 with a modern extension and installation of a lift to all levels of the building to provide a multi-use space for commercial hire, as well as continuing to be an active church with the Edinburgh Methodist congregation meeting every Sunday in the Great Hall.
Role Summary
Under the direction of the Venue Operations Manager, you will work closely with the Facilities Technician and other Assistants to ensure all users of our venues find the premises and grounds maintained to the highest possible standards; safe, secure, clean, and tidy.
You'll accomplish this using keen attention to detail and sensitivity to your surroundings, maintaining a critical eye on the property and how it functions for all those who use it.
Main Duties Include: Keyholding / Security (Opening & Closing)Cleaning and maintenance of all areas including toilets & washroom facilities; internal and external areas of the premisesDoor / Parking SupervisionMoving of furnitureAssisting in the delivery of commercial events (portering)Undertaking of small maintenance jobsReporting of any larger repairs & maintenance requiredLocation: Nicolson Square Venues, 25 Nicolson Square, Edinburgh, EH8 9BX
This is a venue-based role.
Job Type: P/T Contract Minimum 15 hours per week. Additional hours paid at single time as required, agreed in advance with Line Manager.
Hours of work: The venues operate over 7 days. Shifts will be agreed in advance with the Venue Operations Manager and will include mornings and weekend working with evening shifts as required. Minimum shift length is 3 hours.
Rate of Pay: £12ph
