Responsibilities: Working with Defence to support them in delivery of the most ambitious Defence procurement and transformation in 50 years. Help our clients generate new approaches to governance, procurement and risk management. Liaising with stakeholders from Defence legal, finance, contracting, performance-based contracting, engineering, and sustainment. Supporting senior leadership around developing best practice approaches to Government approval. Undertaking investigations and financial assessments. Strategic advice around overall commercial approaches and considerations. Negotiation with industry and strategic industry engagement. Cost estimation and modelling. Commercial strategy development. Risk analysis and assessment in a Defence context. Relationship management with the client and with KBR. General Project Management to support the Defence Project Director. What we're looking for: Here's our 'wish list' but don't worry if you don't tick all the boxes. We're interested in your strengths, what you want to learn, and how far you want to go.
Minimum 2+ years commercial experience and a higher degree qualification. Defence domain experience and interest, with demonstrated relevant experience in CASG, the wider Defence Department or the ADF. A background in the Defence contracting environment with familiarity with Defence contracting templates and the Defence tender evaluation process. Well-developed relationship and inter-personal skills. Ability to quickly understand complex issues and challenges. Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity. An investigative and inquisitive mind. Ideally, you'll also have: Familiarity with the Defence capability lifecycle and the ODCS. Strong Defence industry relationships and knowledge. Ability to work with minimal EY direction and control. A sense of humour and a desire to enhance your commercial negotiation and relationship skills. Ability to undertake stakeholder management and negotiation. Patience and strong networking skills. A passion for supporting the Australian Warfighter. Note: To work on defence client projects, an existing Australian Government security clearance (Baseline Security Clearance or an NV1 Security Clearance) is required.
Time Commitment: 3 days a week minimum at Victoria Barracks Melbourne, flexible arrangements available to work from base, the EY office or remotely for parts of the week. Based at Victoria Barracks Melbourne on St Kilda Rd in Southbank. The successful candidates will be accountable for the service delivery within applicable Commonwealth policy and compliance frameworks and will work as part of a small integrated teams across the SPO. The practitioners may be required to operate in management team lead roles and/or participate in IPTs/tiger teams to support the commercial functions and operate across a range of different projects.
