View our current career opportunities here.Extension Program Manager – TAS Farm Innovation Hub Apply now Job no: 500085Work type: Full timeLocation: LauncestonCategories: ManagementAn opportunity to lead the implementation of the Hub's Extension StrategyProvide effective leadership, supervision, training, and mentorship to direct reportsFull time 24 month fixed term position to 30 June 2026 based in LauncestonAbout the opportunityThe TAS Farm Innovation Hub (the Hub), is one of a network of eight hubs nationally and is part of a large and complex program sponsored by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Forestry (DAFF) under the Commonwealth's Future Drought Fund (FDF) program. The Hub's primary focus is to work collaboratively in undertaking research, development, extension, adoption, and commercialisation activities to improve drought and climate resilience for Tasmanian farmers. The Hub program is administered by the University of Tasmania and sits within the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture, a joint venture between the Tasmanian Government and the University of Tasmania that supports sustainable agricultural and food sectors through high-impact research, development, extension, and education.The Extension Program Manager will lead the implementation of the Hub's Extension Strategy, by providing effective leadership, supervision, and mentorship to a team of Extension Officers, and working collaboratively with the Hub's partners and broader agricultural industry. Ultimately, this role aims to support innovation and adoption of new practices and products that increase Tasmanian farmers' resilience to drought and climate change. As a member of the Hub's management committee, the Extension Program Manager is also a leadership role within the Hub.Lead the implementation of the Hub's Extension StrategyActively contribute to the Hub's Management Team, bringing your strategic insight on industry engagement and extension.Assist in refining and maintaining the hub's networks with R&D providers and industry.Provide effective leadership, supervision, training, and mentorship to direct reports (Extension Program Officers),Contribute to hub operations, including contribution to reporting, monitoring, evaluation and learning, and communications activities.What we're looking for:A post-graduate degree, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and training.Demonstrated technical understanding of agricultural production systems in Tasmania.Significant experience and demonstrated outcomes relating to on-farm/local level extension.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and develop productive relationships with a diverse range of collaborators within the agricultural sector.Demonstrated leadership capacity including, strategic planning, successfully leading teams.Proven ability to successfully mentor early-career colleagues in extension, adoption and practical application of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning processes.Salary detailsAppointment to this role will be at HEO 9 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $151,543 comprising base salary within the range of $122,887 to $129,524 plus 17% superannuation.How to ApplyTo apply online, please provide your CV and 1-2-page cover letter outlining your interest in the role, skills, capabilities and experience.
