About the boardThe Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (the department) is seeking to appoint an Independent Member for its Audit and Risk Committee.
The Committee reports to the department's Secretary.
It is responsible for independent assurance and oversight of financial reporting, financial performance and sustainability, risk management, internal audit, legislative and policy compliance.
The Committee structure is designed to include a balance of professional skills, knowledge, and technical experience to effectively discharge its responsibilities outlined in the Audit & Risk Committee Charter.
About the roleThe Independent Member is expected to have knowledge and experience in financial accounting, risk management, internal and external audit.
An understanding of the requirements of the Standing Directions 2018 issued under the Financial Management Act 1994, the Victorian public sector and Information Technology governance is desirable.
The responsibilities of the Audit and Risk Committee Independent Member will include:
Supporting the Chair and the Committee in discharging its roles and responsibilities per the Audit & Risk Committee Charter and the Standing Directions 2018.Approving the annual work program for the Committee.Distilling key matters and strategic issues from Audit & Risk Committee meetings for briefing to the Secretary.Working with the Committee Secretariat to ensure efficient and effective support is provided to the Committee.Leading an annual self-assessment of the performance of the Committee, the results of which will be made available to the Secretary.Who we're looking forThe department welcomes applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds and strongly encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds, applicants with disabilities and who may identify as a member of the LGBTQI+ community.
