Selection CriteriaSELECTION PROCESS To be successfully appointed, candidates must meet benchmarks against the Lead Teacher AITSL standards.
Three stages assess each standard multiple times across five selection activities.
Candidates who show potential in one stage are progressed to the next stage.
It generally takes 6-8 weeks to complete all selection stages.
The process is designed to have minimal impact on your teaching commitments.
Our selection process is a rolling process and can be commenced at any time of year.
This allows candidates to apply when they feel ready.
Successful applicants external to the College generally take up positions at the commencement of a school year.
Successful applicants internal to the College may be appointed immediately.
Key Selection Criteria (KSC) KSC1: Demonstrated expert knowledge of at least one discipline area up to a senior secondary standard.KSC2: Demonstrated expert knowledge of how students learn.KSC3: Demonstrated ability to plan for learning with high efficiency and efficacy.KSC4: Demonstrated ability to engage all students in a high level of learning.KSC5: Ability to use evidence to provide feedback to students with high levels of clarity and accuracy.KSC6: Demonstrated sustained improvement and high achievement of students, including high growth of students experiencing complexity.KSC7: Demonstrated high-level awareness of best-practice at a local, state, national and international level.The selection process for Expert Teachers is different from many other roles.

At our College, Expert Teachers are recognised for their talent and are paid to keep teaching with excellence.
Classification is a Learning Specialist with salary from $121,500 - $129,500.
The role comes with no strings attached.
No leadership position.
No extra portfolio.
No extra meetings.
Just teach and deliver results.
Successful Expert Teacher candidates must demonstrate very high levels of competence against the AISTL standards.
An Expert Teacher position is awarded to any teacher who meets the benchmarks in our selection process.
Becoming an Expert Teacher is a non-competitive process. ResponsibilitiesMaintain exemplary knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy, teaching practice and planning practices.Model exemplary knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy, teaching practice and planning practices in teaching teams.Actively seek opportunities to share practices to develop other professionals towards excellence.Other duties as determined by the College Principal. Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
