About the role We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lawyer/Associate to join Maddocks' construction litigation team, working with Paul Woods and Anna Scannell. The Construction team has five Partners and works across both front and back-end matters. The team has a strong pipeline of varied and interesting work, across a range of clients, including large construction companies and developers as well as government departments and entities.
This role will see you working across a range of matters for both our public and private clients, including:
Disputes relating to time (extension of time and delay costs), variations, and defects (including latent defects) arising on construction and infrastructure projects.Litigated construction disputes in Victorian Courts.Arbitrations under domestic commercial arbitration legislation in Australia.Expert determination and mediation.Experience advising on construction insurance policies (experience in this area would be a bonus but is not essential).Industries include commercial, energy, gas, electricity, road, rail, mining, and residential projects.

Working as a Lawyer within the team, you will have the opportunity to work both autonomously and collaboratively with Partners and other members of the team on both mid and larger scale matters.
About you You will most likely have approximately 3+ years' experience in a top/mid-tier firm working across a range of construction disputes; however, candidates with transactional experience with an interest in moving into the litigation team are encouraged to apply.
