Experienced Growth & Campaigning Organiser – NSW (Wollongong)The Mining and Energy Union (MEU) Members work in underground and open cut coal mines, electrical generation industries, and coal ports.
Our Union works hard for our members in the industries we cover; workers in these industries want to be organised and be part of the principal Union that represents coal, power, and port workers.

If you have the skills and attributes to become part of a highly motivated and dedicated team of Union organisers that are at the forefront of industrial organising, this could be the role you have been looking for.
This is a full-time position, working within the South Western District operations of Wollongong and their associated communities.
You will report to the National Organising Director and will work closely with the District, liaising with responsible Officials about the work undertaken.
Duties In this role, you will be required to do things like:
Planning, implementing, and reviewing targeted organising campaigns.Engaging with workers at work and recruiting workers into the union.Developing organising networks and creating workplace communications.Empowering workers through education and information on workplace matters to make their workplaces safer and more productive.Developing workplace actions and resolving workplace issues.Help the Union meet its objectives and obligations to members.Key Selection Criteria You must share our values, be self-motivated, and have a genuine desire to work with others on your team and help workers within our industries.
You will need to be enthusiastic, energetic, and have a flair for creativity enabling you to do a challenging job in a difficult environment.
You will be able to actively participate in planning, implementing, and reviewing targeted organising campaigns.
You will be able to lead, motivate, develop, and mobilise workers, members, workplace activists, and delegates and will have experience in being able to effectively analyse problems and develop strategies to deal with them.
You will have experience in educating and developing workplace leaders and possess excellent listening skills combined with concise verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong computer literacy including Social Media Platforms is required.
You will need to supply a National Police Check Certificate to be considered for the role and have a current driver's licence.
Skills and Experience Previous ACTU training and work as a Union Organiser is highly desired.
A proven working commitment to trade Unionism either through being a delegate or organiser within a Union is essential.
Our industry experience is desirable but not essential.
