We are seeking an experienced and passionate English-style gardener to join our team at Eden Gardens in Macquarie Park. This hands-on role is crucial in maintaining the aesthetic and health of our display gardens. The ideal candidate will have extensive horticultural knowledge, practical gardening skills, and a deep passion for garden maintenance.
Key Responsibilities: Garden Maintenance: Maintain and enhance the beauty of the display gardens through expert pruning, planting, weeding, mulching, and watering. Ensure all garden areas are kept tidy, healthy, and visually appealing. Plant Care: Care for a wide variety of plants, including annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees, with a focus on English garden styles. Monitor plant health, diagnose problems, and apply appropriate treatments. Seasonal Tasks: Perform seasonal gardening tasks such as leaf clearing, bulb planting, and lawn care to ensure the gardens look their best year-round. Garden Development: Assist in the design and implementation of new garden features and seasonal displays. Provide input on plant selection and garden layout improvements. Visitor Interaction: Engage with visitors, providing information and answering questions about the gardens and horticultural practices. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Head of Horticulture and other team members to coordinate gardening activities and projects. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior gardeners and volunteers. Qualifications and Skills Experience: Proven experience in maintaining English-style gardens or similar high-standard horticultural environments. Horticultural Knowledge: Strong understanding of plant species, gardening techniques, and landscape maintenance. Practical Skills: Proficient in the use of gardening tools and machinery. Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and working in various weather conditions. Passion for Gardening: Genuine love for gardening and a keen eye for detail. Commitment to maintaining the gardens at their best. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage with visitors and provide insightful information about the gardens.
