Job Description: We have a lovely older gentleman who needs some awake overnight support from an awesome team of experienced Support Workers who have knowledge of Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's and the challenges a participant experiences as a result of this.
This super cool former lifeguard has been living the Australian beach life for over 20 years.
He is a Coventry City F.C.
supporter but also enjoys his local Rugby Union and Rugby League.
He LOVES his old school rock music, including Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, and Alan Parson's Project.
In relation to his disability, unfortunately, this gentleman's dementia can result in quite intense night terrors, confusion, and unconscious agitation.
However, outside of these episodes, he is a lovely, sweet, and gentle guy.
His condition can be frightening to him, and he may act on his terrors until he is calmed and acquainted with his surroundings.
In addition to his Dementia, he also suffers from Parkinson's, which can affect his ability to mobilize freely, requiring someone with strong manual handling skills.
The supports required from you include:
Awake / active overnight support (helping him to bed, calming him in times of terror).The ideal Support Worker should have a strong will but a gentle soul.
Experience in dementia is imperative as Lewy Body Dementia has unique presentations that require a different approach each time.
There is no personal hygiene requirement; however, some assistance with domestic duties and general companionship (creating a strong rapport) will also be part of the role.
From a training perspective, you will have buddy shifts and orientation to this participant's routine by experienced Support Workers and others in the industry, backed up by a comprehensive Support Plan and support from our Support Specialist Team.

Shifts available: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:00pm to 6:00am.Hourly Rate: $38/hr plus penalties for Evening, Night, Weekend, and Public Holiday Shifts.
