As an Experienced Correctional Officer, your role will be dynamic, challenging and varied.
You will form part of a supportive team of professionals responsible for the safe, secure and humane management of prisoners.
You will contribute to creating an environment that better supports and enables prisoners to successfully reintegrate back into the community.
Your key duties include supervising, monitoring and managing prisoners; employing appropriate security measures to ensure the safety of prisoners; undertaking escorts and responding to emergencies.
Experienced Correctional Officers with a Trade Certificate may supervise and train prisoners in the Correctional Services Industries where prisoners have the opportunity to improve their work skills across a range of manufacturing and services.
To be successful you must hold either Australian or New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency.
In addition, you are required to have a minimum of two years' experience as a Correctional Officer in a correctional facility within the last two years and hold a Certificate III in Correctional Practice or equivalent.
Strong communication and organisational skills and the proven ability to work in a cross-cultural environment are essential.
In return, you will be rewarded with a competitive salary package plus an additional 40% consolidated allowance, 6 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave, flexible working conditions, uniforms, wellness allowance and an opportunity for paid overtime.
An additional one week recreational leave will be granted for working 10 Sundays or more during a calendar year.
Applicants holding a Certificate III in Correctional Practice salary range is $69,074 - $75,784 plus 40% consolidated allowance, plus 11.5% superannuation ($107,825 - $118,299 remuneration package)Applicants holding a Certificate IV in Correctional Practice commencement salary is $75,784 plus 40% consolidated allowance, plus 11.5% superannuation ($118,299 remuneration package)Applicants may apply to negotiate commencement salary during the recruitment process.An attraction and retention allowance of $10,000 for Alice Springs is paid at $2,500 after 3 months, a further $2,500 after 6 months and $5,000 paid at 12 months.
An ongoing retention allowance for Alice Springs with a $5,000 lump sum payment after every completed 12 months of continuous service.The NTPS values diversity and inclusion; and aims for a workforce that represents the community.
