The Hotel Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns is a luxury five-star hotel located beside Marlin Marina and Trinity Inlet in the heart of Cairns. With 255 guest rooms, 18 function venues and extensive food and beverage facilities, the hotel is part of a leading international company with more than 100 hotels and resorts worldwide.
The Role Reporting to our Conference and Events Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Sourcing new business, including local corporate meetings, social events, parties, etc.; Conducting site inspections; Contract negotiation; Timely preparation of professional quotations for potential business; Preparation of Banquet Event Orders; Networking & Sales Calls with local industries; Liaison with all relevant departments in the hotel to ensure awareness of client requirements. You will be the first contact point for prospective new clients. It is therefore essential that you have the following attributes:
Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to build and develop client relationships; Strong organization skills with the capacity to work across several different events at the same time; Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite), experience with Delphi a considered advantage; A genuine passion for event management and a desire to progress your career.
