RKF ES is a specialist engineering consultancy with offices in Brisbane, Mackay, Gladstone, Wollongong and Perth. We provide structural and durability engineering, cathodic protection, condition auditing and asset management solutions to a diverse group of clients operating in the mining, marine, transport and heavy industries.
The nature of our work is delivering unique technical engineering solutions to a diverse range of clients varying in both size and business focus. We combine advanced method structural analysis with our inhouse material testing capability to solve problems and meet our client's needs.
In addition to our technical delivery, we have a long-standing history of site inspections, auditing and physical testing of structures in varying conditions. This capability allows us to work with our clients in managing the maintenance and operation of their assets as well as developing remediation designs for degrading structural components and elements. With a growing industry focus on asset integrity management we have seen an increase in demand for our onsite services, remediation solutions, structural analysis and design across several industries.

Position Scope
Due to business growth, we are looking to recruit a mid-senior level structural engineer to join our busy Mackay team. Ideally, you will hold at least 5-10 years' experience working on construction projects within the mining, marine and transport infrastructure (bridges, roads, rail) sectors. Experience working with Strand7 and other key design programs is essential, as is experience performing structural design calculations and holding (or be working towards) CP Eng and RPEQ certification.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake structural design including computer-based analysis of mining/marine/transport infrastructure structures with concrete and steelwork;
Work on critical projects with a key focus on safety and quality;
Acting as client contact as appointed for specific projects;
Conduct condition assessments, audits and surveys;
Liaising with staff members in other offices; and
Other tasks as allocated by senior staff.
What You'll Need
Essential:
A Bachelor Degree in Civil/ Structural Engineering;
5-10 years' industry experience;
Advanced knowledge and experience in using structural analysis software packages such as SpaceGass and Strand7;
Sound knowledge and experience in structural design, analysis, client/stakeholder management and project delivery;
Understanding and/or experience on major construction projects;
Highly developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills;
Be currently residing in Australia and have unrestricted working rights;
Be fluent in written and spoken English to a professional level; and
Open unrestricted drivers licence.
Desirable:
Experience in working with marine, mobile machines, bulk materials handling or shafts/ tunnel assets; and
Sound knowledge or experience with Cathodic Protection design and durability engineering.
